Recipes for Beauty

Winter has damaged everyone’s hair as the harsh elements do every year! Did you know that you can rejuvenate your hair with a simple, homemade hair mask? Give a little tender loving care to your locks this Spring! It’s easy to buy a hair mask, but even easier to make your own!

2.5 oz olive oil (about 1/3 cup)
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix oil and sugar until sugar is separated, gently beat in vanilla extract. Massage into hair starting from roots. Wrap into a shower cap to lock in heat for 30-45 minutes. Shampoo hair and style as desired. For best results apply and complete mask at night. Leave hair to dry naturally and don’t add product or style until morning.

Or if you want something more simple, just use raw honey and follow the rest of the directions.

When your hair is dry, coarse and fly away it’s saying it is thirsty. This is one way to give it some nutrients and help you hair look healthy and smooth.

Make your skin glow by using an herbal steam to loosen debris that has embedded in your skin and clogged your pores. (I know it’s gross, but it happens to the best of us and needs to be taken care of!)

Boil water (approx. 2 cups) with herbs (approx. 1/8 cup) for 1 minute. Pour the boiling water into a bowl and steam your face (stick it close to the steam with a towel around your face and the bowl so the steam can’t escape) for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

For oily skin use thyme, peppermint or lemon
For sensitive and dry skin use chamomile or lime
For normal skin use rosemary or lavender

The best time to exfoliate is right after steaming since your pores are open! Be careful to not exfoliate over 3 minutes or it may irritate your skin!

Beauty Advice experts tell us to lather with lotion before bedtime and remind us to, again, “look for a product that contains more natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera, honey, chamomile, almond oil, olive oil, vitamins (especially vitamin C), minerals and essential oils. In the morning cleanse your face with a mild facial cleanser and gently massage your face with light, circular motions to improve blood circulation and to make your skin glowing.” (hint:You can easily moisturize your hands at the same time, too!)

I'm quite anxious to try new recipes. Print this off and use it for your next spa night. Have fun ladies and look beautiful :)
