*BASED ON A TRUE STORY*
As you all have probably heard on the news, the midwest is getting hit hard with a major snowstorm. So despite the storm, dad goes out to do his daily routine of walking the 2 dogs at night. The wind is howling and the snow is whirling, but he's almost home from his walk. Like he has done a million times before, he opens the shed door and flicks on the light. As he bends over to feed the dogs (which are still on leashes) he sees a movement from behind in his peripheral vision. Instantly, the hairs on the back of his neck stand up! He slowly turns around...... and sees the BIGGEST, FATTEST, BLACKEST rat waltz into shed. In his mind, he is already thinking "WHERE IS ELLEN!!!???" No words could come out..... just his eyes were bulging. The rat waltzes right past him and the dogs and heads for the corner for warmth. Panic sets in, partly because he has never seen a rat on the property before and because now he is trapped in a shed with a rat! Dad thinks he's so smart so he barricades the rat in a corner and still wonders where ELLEN is!! Getting impatient with her for not being home already when he is in distress, he decides to run to the house and get the pellet gun. He stops and decides against it though, for the rat might make his quick escape. He grabs the closest weapon, a rusted shovel hanging on the wall, and closes his eyes as he swings. BOP! Now, knowing dad in his panic mode, I'm guessing it wasn't just a gracious "bop" to the head. He stands there for 15 minutes making sure that the rat hasn't moved a millimeter. By now, dad is feeling pretty good about himself and all that he has accomplished that night. He waltzes into the house to make himself a cup of coffee and waits for Ellen to arrive home so he could tell her what a hero she married.
It turns out that afterall it wasn't just a rat....it was a muskrat :( Dad followed the tracks and realized that the muskrat came from the neighbors pond and probably wanted warmth and protection from the storm.

The End

Too funny! I can't wait to hear it direct from him! Hope you're doing well!
This is hilarious! What would men do without their womenfolk?
P.S. Apparently my hubby isn't a great salesman and didn't mention to you that those headbands you currently have in your possession are for sale. So, if you find one that you fancy, he's charging $10 each. No pressure if it's not your style, though :)
oh wow, poor Gary that must have been so scary! :) I can sympathize...nice story telling, Rach!
